TOTAL BLACKOUT

Power grid collapses across the whole continent within minutes; government activates Plan Omega

What happened

At 03:12 this morning the lights went out, all of them at once. It was not a storm or a faulty plant: engineers describe a cascade that jumped from grid to grid until the entire continent was without power.

Phones lost signal, traffic lights went dark and hospitals switched to generators that, according to the Health Ministry, “will last two days, three at most”. Nobody has been able to say why.

Plan Omega

At 09:00 the Ministry opened Plan Omega: a network of underground shelters built over decades and never spoken of. Every citizen holding a place card may report to the hatch of their sector. Places are limited.

Bring water, bring calm, and do not forget your mask filters: the air on the surface can no longer be trusted.

A survivor’s account

“I had carried the place card in my coat pocket for years and always thought it was a joke. When the lights died I ran, card in hand, not knowing if it was real. Sector 77 had a queue of forty people and a steel door the size of a garage.

The wheel turned slowly, like in the films. We went in one at a time. Behind us the street stayed dark, and somebody sealed the hatch by hand. Then the silence. Then, far off, the hum of a generator that nobody had switched on yet.”

If you are reading this, you are already inside. Bunker Omega-77 is yours now: start the generator, water the garden, open the airlock only when you must. And keep calm. — M.
